Our Story

By Badria Hajjar

You think you know our story

You think what you see is real

You think our life came easy, well you don’t know how we feel

You don’t know how much we suffered to get to where we are

Every hardship life has thrown our way has shaped our every scar

You think you know our story

You think you understand our tears

But you will never know how all our memories are but dark souvenirs

Painful moments in life, times that can’t be forgotten

Times so gloomy, so sour, so bitter, so rotten

You judge based on what your eyes perceive

Just to let you know, your eyes and perceptions can sometimes DECEIVE

You may look at us smiling, thinking we have it all

But in reality, you can’t see us crumbling, on our knees and ready to fall

So when you LOOK at us make sure you’re actually SEEING

Because maybe then you’d SEE we’re not perfect human beings

So when you THINK you know my story, and you THINK you understand

All I have left to say is, we shaped OUR life, with God by OUR side and with OUR bare hands
