He Wanted Money

By Mona Akra

He wanted money,
so he started to work.
He said, oh Honey,
I'll start as a clerk.

So on and on,
he gathered the cash,
nothing could go wrong!
Throw worries in the trash!

He got a car and a pool,
he was a star and they the fool.
Oh wife, here, I got you a phone,
he didn't realize: she felt so alone.

He bought a palace, or two,
Oh wife, be a princess, be you!
But he didn't notice, didn't see,
the princess, that wasn't she.

He made it! Indeed, on his own,
but why did he feel so alone?
He danced during the night,
danced with his knight.

The knight, you ask, who is it?
It is what made it go astray,
he danced with it, oh so remote!
With this human sized bank note.

Then he swam in a pool of money,
splashing around with the coins, oh fun!
They suffocated him, filling his tummy,
he got so heavy he couldn't run...

His Honey found him the next morning,
oh darling, what happened to make you go there?
In his funeral, it was her there mourning,
while the money creeped away, to kill elsewhere...
